Acupuncture

I practice Classical Chinese medicine, a complete system that allows me to take a focused approach to whatever you’re coming in with. The complement channels, specific to Classical Chinese medicine, provide a framework to approach issues that are acute or chronic, physical, emotional, or spiritual, inherited or acquired. Inherent in this work is the notion that no symptom stands alone, and it provides a language to decode the story your body is telling. I believe that the issues our bodies present are vehicles for transformation, that there is a deep wisdom held within that points us toward freedom and wholeness, and acupuncture is a tool for moving into the fullness of your destiny.

We start with a thorough intake. We talk about many things because it probably all matters. From there I come up with a plan based on what we’ve discussed as well as an assessment I make by feeling your pulse and looking at your tongue.

Then, the treatment commences. Acupuncture is the primary modality, but I often incorporate complementary therapies such as moxibustion, cupping, or gua sha as needed. A shift takes place within the first session. Individual factors such as how long a condition has been around or the severity of it will point us toward the course of follow up treatments.

My unique approach to acupuncture has a direct connection to my background in fine art and design. I was initially drawn to the elegant tools of the medicine and the geometry of point combinations. With some study, I realized that acupuncture is at once poetic, mysterious, tactile, and practical. Honing those aspects to assist you on your healing path is a natural progression of my creative pursuits.

My Approach

I received an M.S. in acupuncture from Tri-State College of Acupuncture. After completing my degree I decided to dive deep into the source of other styles by studying Classical Chinese medicine, a complete system that allows me to take a focused approach to whatever you’re coming in with. The complement channels, specific to Classical Chinese medicine, provide a framework to approach issues that are acute or chronic, physical, emotional, or spiritual, inherited or acquired. Inherent in this work is the notion that no symptom stands alone and it provides a language to decode the story your body is telling.

My Training

My aim is both to understand your ailment, and to see how it is manifesting in your unique constitution. In addition to acupuncture I also incorporate cupping, tui na, moxabustion, and lifestyle recommendations into your treatment as needed. My goal is to facilitate the process by which your body resides in optimal health, as well as to provide you with helpful tools that will allow you to continue to heal on your own.
